Picardy - Shiraz
A Pemberton classic from one of Western Australia's leading boutique producers. Since the first vintage in 1997, Picardy's Shiraz has been made using techniques borrowed from their Pinot Noir production, resulting in an elegant, complex, rich, cool-climate style in the traditional old-world mould.
The blend includes around 4% Malbec and 2% Viognier, co-fermented in to add sweetness of fruit and extra complexity. Expect vibrant colour and pronounced fruit flavours, with low pH balanced against modest acidity and fine-grained tannins. On the nose, it's floral and pretty, opening into an elegant, medium-bodied palate of fresh red fruits — raspberry, macerated cherry and pomegranate — deepening into darker tones with cinnamon and earthy undergrowth notes.
